Sneak Preview of Super Bowl XLIV Hospitality
We’re proud to present the first round of artist renderings and menus for this year’s Super Bowl XLIV hospitality.
Which Cities Are Hopeful for Their Teams?
With five weeks of the NFL season in the books, we took a look at where inquiries for Super Bowl packages are coming from – and how that interest might correlate with the home town team’s performance so far.
Ranking |
Region / City |
Team(s) |
Commentary |
1 |
New York City |
Giants / Jets |
Both teams are off to a fast start. Jets Super Bowl appearance would be first since the days of “Broadway Joe” Namath. |
2 |
Buffalo |
Bills |
This one’s a head scratcher. Some early enthusiasm for the potential impact of “The T.O. Show”?
|
3 |
Dallas |
Cowboys |
Lots of talent and have showed flashes. Need to get it rolling if they are to keep pace with the Giants.
|
4 |
Atlanta |
Falcons |
Solid young nucleus with renewed energy in the fan base. |
5(t) |
Tampa Bay |
Bucaneers |
Ummm….still in the afterglow of last year’s Super Bowl in the city?? |
5(t) |
Miami |
Dolphins |
A great story last year and with the Super Bowl in town this year who can fault the optimism? Pennington’s injury was a big blow to young team. |
As the adage goes, “put your money where your mouth is”, and time will tell if these fans have reason for early optimism.

Review of Management Rewired
Charles S. Jacobs
The understanding of how the human brain works is quickly changing. As we learn more about the brain, we’re also learning new ways to effectively manage and develop strategy as business leaders. In Management Rewired, Charles Jacobs weaves biology, sociology, and business case studies to create an engaging read that can help in our management of incentive and motivation programs.
Three important themes from the book:
- Everyone has different definitions of valuable: We all have varied motivations and perceptions of what success looks like and what’s valuable. That being the case, effective leadership and strategy needs to account for individual rewards AND broadly understood, and reinforced, messages about the company goals.
- A good supervisor isn’t a micro-manager: Jacobs outlines why strong communication, 360 degree feedback, and the marrying of compensation to a set of objective measures tied to the performance of the business are keys to effective management.
- Five key actions for transformational leadership: In the culmination of his work, Jacobs makes a case for transformational leadership over transactional leadership :
- Shift the Paradigm – “…transform how people think about the world, particularly when times are tough and a turnaround is needed. A failing business can be seen as an opportunity to break with the past and redesign the business the way you want it to be.”
- Make It Participative – “…numerous studies demonstrate that participation improves both performance and employee satisfaction.”
- Convey An Aspirational Vision of the Future- “No one is going to buy that a fast food restaurant is going to make the world a better place, but employees will buy into a vision of having the most satisfied customers of any outlet in the industry.”
- Tell the Story – “A transformational leader offers a counternarrative that is a more attractive version of events than the story people are telling themselves…..Given that we create the world, rather than record it, and that ideas in high level neural networks create thoughts and behavior in line with them, even one idea can cause far-reaching changes in the way the mind works…”
- Create Focus and Urgency – “…what’s critical for success…should be repeated often enough to cause structural changes in the neural networks that drive necessary thinking and behaving.”
Management Rewired doesn’t provide as many breakthrough ideas as it does breakthrough research to explain and reinforce what many have believed and practiced for eons. What’s interesting about the work is that it makes a compelling case of explaining why some practices work, some don’t, and what we can do about it.

Fun Facts – On the Brain
| 1. |
The human brain has about 100,000,000,000 (100 billion) neurons. On average, each neuron is connected to one thousand other cells.
|
| 2. |
Once a human reaches the age of 35, he/she will start losing approximately 7,000 brain cells a day. The cells will never be replaced. That said, by continuously learning, existing neurons can make new connections and thus continue to develop cognitive abilities, and ultimately, wisdom.
|
| 3. |
Though the brain is very efficient, it's an energy hog. It is only 3 per cent of the body's weight, but consumes 1/6 (17 per cent) of the body's total energy. |
